Polak Launches Social Media Contest to Showcase Langley

LANGLEY – MLA Mary Polak is launching a major social media campaign to engage Langley residents and get them involved in the work she does for the Langley community.

"It is truly an honour to represent this community in Victoria, which is why I am thrilled to connect with my constituents in another way," says Polak.

Starting today, Polak will be conducting biweekly 30-minute Twitter Townhalls to hear from her constituents on topics that are important to them. She's encouraging all Langley residents to participate.

"Social media opens up our ability as MLAs to engage the public and hear what they have to say," says Polak.

In order to build relationships with people in the community, Polak is asking Langley residents to follow her Twitter (twitter.com/marypolakmla) account and YouTube channel (youtube.com/MaryPolakTV) and become her friend on Facebook. Those who join are eligible to participate in a contest; followers and friends can submit a photo of their favourite Langley place or activity with a one sentence description to Polak's Twitter or Facebook pages. Enter your photo by September 30 for your chance to win two gift cards to local businesses.

"This summer I want to get to know you better so we can continue to make Langley the best place to live, work and play," says Polak.
